Carolina Panthers Season Update
Currently the Carolina Panthers are 0-3 heading into there upcoming game against the Washington Redskins. The season has started badly and most Carolina fans are frustrated. Who is to blame for such a slow start? The most popular person to blame is Jake Delhomme and while he has been responsible for 7 INT's and only 2 TD's this year he shouldn't be the scapegoat for the teams lackluster performance. Julius Peppers is the Panthers 17 million dollar man and what has he given in return for his lucrative contract? 1 sack. The man is being paid 1 millions dollars a game and that is the effort he has given the team. Peppers has not been the only problem. The team has suffered multiple injury's to key players. Chris Harris has been hampered by a knee injury. Maake Kemoeatu suffered a torn Achilles tendon in the early minutes of training camp. The Panthers traded for Louis Leonard in a attempt to try and patch the D line and he went down with a broken left ankle in his first start for the team. The potent running attack which ran for 2,437 rushing yards as a team has been held to 71 rushing yards per game. The Panthers defense has struggled to pick up Ron Meek's style of defense possible due to the teams lack of proper person to run his scheme, to poor tackling and a host of other issues. In the end I am not 'excusing Jake Delhomme's poor play because it has been appalling but at the same time the backlash from fans can go too far. The Panthers have a opportunity this Sunday against the 2-2 Washington Redskins to get there first win of the season and possibly gain some momentum for turning around there season before things get any more out of control.
