Carolina Panthers Get First Win Of The Season

The Carolina Panthers get there first win of the season against the Washington Redskins. It was not the prettiest victory but a win is a win and you will take them any way they come. Carolina started slow, DeAngelo Williams fumbled the ball on the opening drive and the Redskins promptly moved the ball and scored a touchdown. The Panthers recorded a safety in the second quarter which change the moment of the game and set in motion there comeback. Jake Delhomme had a pedestrian game passing 16 for 25, 181 yards, 1 touchdown, and a INT. Delhomme Said after the game "Anything that could have gone wrong the first month or so has gone wrong, We'll take it any way we can get it". Jonathon Stewart and Steve Smith scored the deciding points. Stewart had the rushing touchdown and Smith had a two point conversion in the fourth quarter with 9 minutes and 21 seconds left to play. The much improved defense held the Redskins in check. The Defense had 5 sacks and held Clinton Portis to 57 yards rushing. It was important for the Panthers to come out of the bye week strong and they have done just that and may start building momentum to turn around there slow start to the season. The next game on the schedule will be against NFC South Rival the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at 1PM ET on Fox. When these two teams play it is always a hard hitting intense game so it will be a must watch. Check back in for injuries and updates during the week.
